Just my thoughts people!

Its 4:26 AM. I’m up, listening to Max Tundra Parallax Error Beheads You, which is actually a pretty awesome record. I’m also taking part in one of my favorite activities, reading about other artists on tour and dreaming its me writing.  I often romanticize the thought of waking up in a new city every single day.  Mostly, because I’ve never figured out where I belong. I love Chicago, but it has its flaws as well.  I’ve got this mixtape I’m practically sitting on, mostly because I’m debating if its any damn good. I’m laying here trying to figure out what makes me stand out.  Everyone, and literally EVERYONE, makes music nowadays.  Its refreshing but also extremely discouraging.  Especially since I’m an emcee, I’m not supposed to show weakness and fear. But here I am, writing one of these ridiculous blogs about why I’m in such a shitty mood. Whatever, I know I need to step up my drive and go in. The talent and the image are there, but the heart feels like its missing. I’m worried about the reception of this mixtape because its so damn personal. More so than anything I’ve ever done. I’m paranoid it will come off as bitching and being (lack of a more descriptive term this late at night) a pussy.  But I’m gonna give it one more listen tomorrow when I wake up, then decide. Then its Ignorant Ass Rap day, I’m gonna listen to Gucci Mane and Cam’ron BACK-TO-BACK!

I want to thank anyone who has supported me this far. Often times, I feel like the only people who are into what I do are people I know personally. But I know that isn’t true and I know that those that do know me personally genuinely like my music. Thanks guys, now its time to start to grow this thing called a fanbase.

Good evening/morning, my droogs.

I wanted to share some more music with you guys. This is a little ditty I’ve been working on for awhile. I hate feeling like a trendhopper (although you will NEVER hear me using Autotune, except if you call my voicemail 🙂 ) but this tune has definetly got a bit of a dubstep influence. I’ve been big on Burial and Skream and all the more mainstream acts for a year or so. So this is me and my buddy/producer D’s attempt at reworking that formula. My flow is a bit more aggressive on this track, but trust me, the music calls for it. This is the version going on The Reawakening Mixtape, which has an OFFICIAL release date of April 11th. This date is GOOD AS GOLD! Trust. This song will also be on Artificial Product, but it will have a different sound that will be easily noticable. Oh the joys of creating music and being anal retentive (Im a grown man, so fuck your “no homo”). Hope you dig it. Feedback, as always, is gladly welcomed.

Career Updates & Free Albums

Yo, yo.
Been awhile since I updated.
Here’s whats going on with me these days.

1) Although I change my mind like once a day, odds are good I’m gonna be putting out a mixtape relatively soon. Like mid March. Still working on titles and all that, but its gonna be a nice holdover till the album drops. Production from a few of my good friends and a few industry tracks. (Warning: I’ve been obessing over old Neptunes beats lately, so expect a couple of them to show up. Also, I’m interested in suggestions for instrumentals. Anything you lovely people have in mind lemme know. I prefer faster/electro stuff, but I feel the need to flex my lyrical hip-hop muscle lately.)

2) Debating about the album right now, as far as title and concept. Now I’m not making an actual concept album, as that rarely works out in album form. But I still want all the songs to tie together thematically, and not be some hodgepodge collection of songs that don’t have shit to do with each other. Theres the Marilyn Monroe theme I had going on, but theres also one about women in general, and one idea I have based on a Radiohead song. GOD I HATE MY BRAIN.

3) Still working as a god damn janitor. Shit is still pretty weak, but its regular pay and I still have my evenings. I finally have a steady job and I still fucking hate it. I’m not cut out for this “working everyday shit.”

4) Currently listening to music I normally would not touch with a ten foot pole. Things I’ve learned: Ska music is def not for me, I secretly think the Black Eyed Peas might be one of the greatest rap groups ever (to be discussed later), I actually REALLY like Bob Dylan, and acoustic music has to have really interesting lyrics to hold my attention. Guess those last two could be tied together.

5) Deciding that I’m going to work more on word of mouth promotion more than this internet shit. Granted, the reach with these lovely internets is amazing. I have fans in places I’ve never been to. But I want my fan base to grow pyramid style. One friend tells two friends, so on and so forth. I think thats probably the best way to build a long lasting fan base. I am, however, exploring the idea of hiring a PR firm. More on that once I know more. 🙂

6) This post pretty much signifies my remergence from my self-imposed hibernation. If you haven’t heard from me or seen me in awhile, expect that to change. If you’re throwing an event and I’m not working, I’ll be the tall black dude in the back with a PBR or substitute cheap ass beer. Networking and such. Time to whore myself out like never before. Throwing myself at this dream I’ve had for awhile now. YAY!

Dude, Where’s My Hat?

Figured  March was as good a time as any to get back into the scene. So here’s the first track from The Re-Awakening Mixtape. Its a little stop gap between now and the album. Want something out. Release date will be set very very shortly. This is “Dude, Where’s My Hat?” over Wiley’s “Wearing My Rolex” tune that blew up in the UK a few months ago. Its a fun, light track that was done on a whim. It is NOT indicative of where the album is headed. Gonna be much darker fare. But I’m still a big fucking goof.
